Steve James With His Own
The picture above shows a Stella 12-String
with a Leadbelly tailpiece. This one has a Spruce
top and Mahogany back and sides.

Although its inventive and unique construction
gave it a distinctive sound, very evocative of old blues
recordings and artists (such as Huddie Leadbetter, "Leadbelly"),
it also meant that few original Stellas survive in a playable
state. Ralph has made a few affectionate replicas of these
unique and historic instruments for discerning (live!)
bluesmen.
The one photoed here is a Spanish Cypress in Honey Sunburst
& Sitka Top & 6-pin fixed bridge.
