"Jordan has been a friend of the shop for a while now. He's an amazing guitarist and tours with The Duhks, an incredible band that plays traditional roots music with a twist. Every time Jordan's in town he comes by and we peek inside the best guitars in the shop. He's truly in love with his craft and has already made guitars for big names like John Doyle and Tim Sparks. In my opinion Jordan has a true gift for both music and guitar that makes him a special builder with true insight into what a player needs and wants. I'm sure I'll have a McConnell guitar one day soon!" - Paul Heumiller

Jordan McConnell Biography

My shop is located in Winnipeg, on the windswept eastern edge of the Canadian prairies and I currently divide my time between building steel string and classical guitars (as well as the occasional banjo). I have been luck enough to study in Spain with Jose Romanillos and his influence has led me to a strong appreciation of the work and work methods of the makers of the past. I enjoy working with my hands instead of machines, and I strive to acknowledge the traditions of the craft in every guitar I build while still pushing towards the sound I hear in my head, and staying open to new ideas along the way.

I now work with my father to produce a very limited number of guitars per year, no two of which are ever the same. My customers have included fingerpicking champion Tim Sparks, jazz guitarists Larry Roy and Harley Card, Irish guitarist John Doyle, and Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers. I have been playing guitar for over twenty years, and I believe this affords me the ability of working closely with someone to create a unique guitar that is suited to both them and their playing style.
