Sand, Kirk Biography

The many years Kirk spent as a guitar player, repairman and luthier have enabled him to develop a modern and precise method of construction. Each step is performed meticulously by hand.

Kirk Sand began playing guitar at six years old and played professionally until the age of nineteen when he moved from his hometown of Springfield, Illinois to Southern California to study classical guitar. His love of the instrument led him to co-establish the Guitar Shoppe in 1972 in Laguna Beach, California with James Matthews, which they successfully operate today.

By 1979, Kirk's twenty years of dedicated experience with guitars, guitar repair and restoration inspired him to begin building guitars of his own design.
Today, Kirk's clients include internationally known guitarists as well as non-professionals who demand the ultimate from their instruments.
