Legendary Masaru Kohno began building guitars in the late 1940's. In the 1960's he traveled to Madrid and studied at the workshop of Arcangel Fernandez. Within a few short years he was awarded the Gold Medal in Elizabeth's Concourse Belgium, international competition in guitar lutherie.
This wonderful Kohno Special was made in 1996 and it has a marvelous deep voice. The Special model is one of the highest level models Masaru Kohno offered. This one with it's Rosewood and Spruce body offers bass that is strong and clear and the trebles that are warm and round. An excellent instrument that easily handles a diverse repertoire. It's obvious from the play wear that this guitar was played a bunch, a great sign that it's owner loved it and you will too. Label is signed by Masaru Kohno.

"Here's a very high-end Kohno Special guitar built with fine tonewoods and featuring that wonderful Kohno feel and ease of play. This one has a bunch of wear, but it's all cosmetic and only means it was played and enjoyed. I love holding an instrument like this, that has had a lot of notes put through it. It's awake, alive and responsive and it gives you everything you put into it. " - Paul Heumiller
