| SOLD - DT Guitars by David Taylor, 2008 DT Brescia: In addition to the chance to find you new guitars from our current builders at the custom Lutherie shows, like the recent Newport/Miami Beach Guitar Festival, we are always on the lookout for an up and coming luthier with extraordinary talent. At the Newport/Miami Guitar Festival we were thrilled to discover the work of David Taylor, DT Guitars. Al Petteway and I both played his instruments repeatedly and were moved by the gorgeous tone and remarkable craftsmenship. I always look for the voice of a young builder and all 4 of his guitars on display had it, a sign to me that he is for real. What I sense is a powerful modern bass that is round and punctuated along with articulate trebles that willingly sing out the melody notes. These David Taylor Guitars also strum very well and the full sound is suitable for many styles from Fingerstyle to Jazz to Singer/Songwriter and everything in between. David happens to be the son of a wordclass knife maker, Gray Taylor, and carries on his families craftsmenship skills as evidenced by the lovely inlay work and fine details in his guitars. If you've been looking for a young builder to believe in you owe to yourself to learn more about David Taylor and his DT Guitars. - Comments: "This guitar has a bright clear tone with plenty of color and round bass. The workmanship and pearl inlay is gorgeous. A promising young builder for sure." - Al Petteway
"After years of working with the very best luthiers on the planet we are not easily impressed but David Taylors guitars really stood out at the Newport/Miami Beach Guitar Festival. Several builders that I respect suggested that I look at his guitars and I'm glad I did. David is the son of Gray Taylor, a worldclass knife maker, and has superb skills for working with wood and inlay. His guitars are stunning and beautifully crafted. But it's all about tone for us and Al and I were both hooked as soon as we played these DT Guitars. There is a warm, rich bass that reminds me of Kathy Wingert's amazing guitars and clear and present trebles. It's a joy to play this guitar fingerstyle, picked or strummed. It's very versatile and breathtakingly beautiful. The Amazon Rosewood has a deep reddish glow and the Carpathian top is tight-grained with abundant medullary rays. It's always thrilling to find a new builder for Dream Guitars and we are very proud to present David Taylor and his DT Guitars. By the way Muriel Anderson bought one at Miami as well..." - Paul Heumiller
