Blackwood Dream Series #2 | The Pink Lady
| Bill Tippin
Guitars, 2008 Dream Series Blackwood #2: This is #2 of our Blackwood Dream Series from master luthier Bill Tippin and it has it all. It starts with premium 2 piece
African Blackwood with superb color and grain. Rick Snakewood bindings join the African Blackwood to its master grade Adirondack Red Spruce top which brings with it power, clarity and all the headroom you can ask for. Bill also bound the neck and his elegant headstock with Snakewood as well. For those who don't know Snakewood, it's extremely valuable and rare. To further accent this stunning instrument Bill added very fine Mother Of Pearl Sparkle as the top border, rosette lines, backstrip and tail wedge accents. There is also a first fret flame made from real gem quality Opal border with M.O.P. Sparkle and this is echoed on the bottom of the backstrip as well. Finishing touches include a bookmatched Brazilian Rosewood headplate and Gold Waverlys with Black Pearl Buttons. This is as good as it gets and the Bravado body, with its SJ size, puts forth a big, beautiful, balanced tone and the African Blackwood and Adirondack work perfectly together to create a lush but strong voice. - Comments: "I love this guitar. The sound is big and warm without sacrificing clarity. You just won't find a more beautiful guitar to look at, play or listen to." - Al Petteway
"What a guitar! Bill Tippin is a master at making a guitar stunning but keeping it elegant. He does it by employing only the finest and most beautiful woods, hand made Pearl purflings and gem quality Opal inlays. Bill was the first to use real Opal inlays and it was for us here at Dream Guitars. But the beauty of this guitar only starts with the eyes, then you get to hold it, close your eyes and really see its beauty. The African Blackwood and Red Spruce really work together and create a unique voice in this Bravado. There is warm, satisfying bass response with characteristic Blackwood depth; the trebles are full and round and they really make melodies sound special. It's a superb fingerstyle guitar, but its size also allows it to be a great strummer and to accept a pick handily. This is the kind of guitar that can be your lifelong partner, you can be the one to help it mature and grow as your music does." - Paul Heumiller

Guitars, 2008 Tippin "The Pink Lady": The Pink Lady was inspired when we happened upon some rare Pink Ivory wood. This wood grows in southeast Africa and is rarely found in sizes suitable for guitars. It's beautiful vibrant color and amazing tone set us on a course to build this unique guitar. The body shape is Bill's Staccato, which is an updated 0 sized parlor guitar. We worked closely with Bill Tippin on the tonal and cosmetic details. We chose premium Italian Spruce for the top, a flamed Maple neck and Bois de Rose for the fingerboard and matching bridge. Bill Tippin and Glenn Nichols created a stunning headstock inlay of Hibiscus with carefully selected materials to bring it to life. They even included the water droplets that formed while initially photographing the flower and there is one following pedal on the back of the guitar. But the fine folks at Tippin Guitars didn't stop there, they added very fine Mother of Pearl Sparkle trim bordering the fingerboard and the entire top. It is very subtle and beautiful with fine bloodwood lines framing the MOP Sparkle. The backstrip echoes this treatment and the entire guitar is bound in flamed maple. The tuners are adorned with Ivoroid buttons. My favorite feature is the gem quality Opal necklace rosette. But what Bill and I are most proud of is the tone of this guitar, it is simply bewitching, complete in every register with fullness and wonderful sparkle. We are honored to bring you the Pink Lady from Tippin Guitars. |

"We find the finest instruments are created when a builder is given freedom and an enjoyable project to dive into. Bill Tippin and his folks did an amazing job on this instrument. It is even more beautiful in person and the tone is enchanting. It's no secret Bill is one of the best luthiers today but what you may not know is how much he enjoys his work. This guitar is evidence of that. Every detail is original and stunning but truly it's the tone we are most proud of. This is a worldclass custom instrument and we are delighted to offer it to you." - Paul Heumiller
