SOLD - William Kelday Guitars: 2007 Kelday Baritone Acoustic Guitar

Guitarist Tony McManus told us that we should get to know William Kelday and his guitars. Boy do we owe Tony a big thank you. Many we've discovered many of our builders by referral from top players and it's our favorite way. Who knows better than a recording artist of Tony's level. William Kelday hails from Scotland and has been building for over 20 years and we are absolutely thrilled to introduce him to the U.S. We brought home 3 of his 4 guitars from the Healdsburg Guitar Festival because we were so enamoured with his passion and his tone. Owner Paul Heumiller has elected to keep the Terz guitar for his own and these others are temptin him terribly so please spare him by having a look for yourself. This Baritone is made from very rare Yew wood from England. William than lined the back and sides to stiffen them which increases the top movement and maintains the clarity. This Baritone is magical, the voice simply takes you away and it's clear all the way up the neck. We are honored to have this new relationship with William. We give you William Kelday's fine guitars... This instrument features:

  • Comments: "What a joy this guitar is to play. It's like having a six string bass that responds like a guitar. I love it. " - Al Petteway

"It is so exciting when we meet a builder that has as much passion and receives so much joy from his work as William Kelday. When Tony McManus told me to visit him at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival I suspected I was in for a treat. But I had no idea I'd fall in love with every instrument William made for the show. We brought home 3 of the 4 he made for Healdsburg and one I've kept for myself, that's how much I enjoy his work. Many of you know I love to play Baritone and this is a phenomenal Baritone. The Yew wood, which Bill lined for extra tonal clarity, has a sensous tonal quality that is very vocal with great separation. The playability of the 28.25 scale is superb, easy to reach yet it supports low A beautifully. Tony McManus has one of William Kelday's Baritone guitars and now you can as well." - Paul Heumiller
