From the Fender Website: Fender and Roland® team up to bring you the revolutionary new VG Stratocaster guitar. I's an incredibly versatile instrument that has 37 different Stratocaster, Telecaster®, humbucking, 12-string and acoustic sounds, plus five alternate tunings, all at the simple flip of a switch or twist of a knob. It all comes in the gracefully familiar form of an American Series Stratocaster, and it's designed to deliver each sound with level, balanced tone and volume -- no need to readjust your amp settings with each change in guitar sound. Since this is not a midi guitar, there are no tracking issues. We here at Dream Guitars can tell you this works great, you really can get a multitude of sounds and even the Baritone and Drop Tunings settings work perfectly. Perfect for the versatile gigging musician or for learning tunings at home.

"VG stands for Virtual Guitar. I can see this being very valuable to a gigging musician who wants to carry one guitar instead of 5 or the home player who wants to explore tunings and Baritone without retuning. Plus it's also a great playing Strat in classic Black." - Paul Heumiller
"This is great playing Strat, regardless of it's special synth features. Unlike previous VG Strats, all you need is a regular guitar cable and a regular amplifier to use this guitar. All of the electronics happen internally. I love being able to switch to alternate tunings during a tune without having to retune and I'm glad they included DADGAD, my favorite tuning. When you have the amp up loud enough to cover the acoustic sound of the guitar (which isn't very much with a strat) you just can't tell that you're not actually in the tuning you choose. It's really remarkable. I also love the 12-string setting and the fact that all of these setting work with the various pickup positions. The batteries last for about six hours, but it will still work as a normal Strat, even with no batteries. What a cool concept." - Al Petteway
