2008 Applegate C - Classical Guitar

SOLD

Brian Applegate presented this guitar at the Newport/Miami Guitar Festival. It caught our eye immediately with it's enticing Myrtlewood body full of golden tan and brown colors. It's topped with Engelmann Spruce prized by luthiers for it's rich, warm tone. The headstock is adorned with striking Amboyna and the etched tie block is beautiful cut from bone. Brian makes some of the prettiest rosettes around and this one features interlacing bloodwood diamonds set into the Spruce top. The combination of Myrtlewood and Engelmann Spruce makes for a lush, full voice with great projection. This is a loud guitar with very lyrical trebles that just long to carry the melody. It has 50mm nut and slimmer neck profile that will appeal to players of many nylon styles. This is a superb Concert Guitar from Brian Applegate.

Player Reviews:

"Brian is now applying his wonderful talents to Nylon strings guitars as well as Steel strings. He has a passion for Nylon stringed instruments that is clearly evident in guitars like this one. His quality is second to none and this guitar show off both his eye and his hands, just look at the rosette and the etched tie block. The wood choices are wonderful, Myrtlewood bring clarity and power while the Engelmann top adds warmth and fullness. This is a strong guitar with great projection and rich trebles that seem dipped in honey. The slightly slimmer neck profile will appeal to many players of many styles." - Paul Heumiller

"I really like Brian's classical guitars. They are clear and have a well balanced midrange, this one plays beautifully." - Al Petteway

"If, like me, you're not quite a classical player, but instead you like playing some jazz or bossa on a nylon string... maybe even with a pick (!) once in a while, then this may be the guitar for you. It's got a lighter, more contemporary sound than many others, and the neck is sized and profiled for a "looser" kind of play. If you've been disappointed by other nylon string guitars and want something that leans more seriously toward the traditional but with some less formal dimensions and attitude, this may be the guitar for you. I could own this one." - Al Schlimm
