1998 Deering Gabriella, Brazilian Rosewood
What a truly rare treat for us here at Dream Guitars—we have a 1998 Deering Gabriella in Brazilian Rosewood. We’ve had only two other Gabriellas (at the time of publication) in the shop, and they’re truly as rare as hen’s teeth.
Mother-of-pearl fingerboard, 24k gold plating on the rim and flange, carved Brazilian Rosewood neck, abalone trim—this is about as fancy and classy as a banjo can get.
But don’t be fooled—this isn’t all aesthetic exclusivity. Brazilian Rosewood on the resonator (over laminated maple) gives this banjo a unique timbre in the banjo world, complemented by the glassy quality of the fingerboard. This banjo looks slick and sounds full, with excellent bite and a round bass.
It’s also equipped with Keith-style tuners on the G and B strings, so whatever banjo wizardry you may require, it will deliver.
The original bridge was replaced with a Moon bridge, which frankly looks amazing on this banjo—but sounds even better. That might be the mantra for this five-string ripple machine: it looks amazing, but sounds even better.
Please have a look and listen for yourself!

2016 Charles Fox Ergo Noir, Brazilian Rosewood/Alpine Spruce
If you need a guitar that stand head and shoulders out from the crowd, this Ergo Noir from Charles Fox is going to be right up your alley. Charles’ Ergo design manages to make a large guitar feel and play like a much smaller instrument–without sacrificing an ounce of volume and tone. The voice on this Ergo Noir stands out to us here at Dream Guitars, and that takes a lot. There’s a quick and lively quality that’s immediately engrossing, with just a touch of added sweetness in the mids to warm it up and fill it out. The body is engineered with a wedge, elevated fingerboard, cutaway, and soundport to enhance the experience of effortless playability, and features an Alpine Spruce top (painted black) and wildly figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides plus red purflings throughout. A Flamed Mahogany neck terminating at Charles’ bespoke headstock shape, and an access panel at the tail, tie it all together. Ready for a modern addition to your collection? Looking for a flattop that not only plays great, but has a little something extra in the voice that’s unlike the others? This 2016 Charles Fox Ergo Noir is the ticket.

2021 Galloup G.6CA, Brazilian Rosewood/Italian Spruce
We love, love, love this powerhouse 2021 G.6CA from Bryan Galloup. We picked out a fantastically straight-grained Brazilian Rosewood set for the back and sides, which was then paired with Italian Spruce for smoothness and sustain to match the power and dynamic response. A multiscale setup of 26 inches at the bass to 25 at the treble adds a touch of sweetness to the high-end as well. Moreover, this beauty has an arm bevel and a smoothly curving venetian cutaway for added creature comforts.

1929-1933 Gibson Nick Lucas Special, Brazilian Rosewood/Spruce
Rare is an understatement when it comes to this extraordinary Gibson Nick Lucas, crafted sometime between 1929 and 1933. Featuring Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, this guitar is a true gem from Gibson’s golden era.
Adding to its story, based on our research it appears to have been retopped by Gibson in the 1960s. This meticulous work not only explains the pristine condition of the finish but also gives insight into subtle details like the sunburst style on the top, the differences in binding between the top and back, and the laminated bridge plate—features that were not typical of Gibson’s 1930s build practices.
At its core, this is a prewar Nick Lucas Special—a rare and iconic model—with the coveted combination of Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, a 12-fret neck, and an ornate headstock inlay. To date, only a handful of Brazilian Rosewood Nick Lucas models with 12-fret necks have ever surfaced, making this one of the rarest examples of an already legendary instrument we’ve ever seen.
This Gibson Nick Lucas combines historical significance with undeniable beauty and tonal prowess. A collector’s centerpiece with a unique voice to match.Other keywords/misspellings:Luthier, lutherie, vintage, heirloom,

2016 Greven The 000-12 Custom, Brazilian Rosewood/Engelmann Spruce
Power and poise, in a petite package! This 2016 Greven is the real deal, folks, a powerhouse that loves an aggressive attack but has the responsiveness and dynamic range to bloom under a light touch too. Fingers and picks both welcome! We don’t often find guitars that really manage to work well for both, but this 000-12 Custom is one of those rare pieces. Moreover this beauty is outfitted with gorgeous, straight-grained Brazilian Rosewood and high-altitude harvested Engelmann Spruce, has a chunky and wide neck that’s oh. so. comfortable with its 1 25/32” nut, and subtle Abalone top trim to tie it all together. The voice pairs up a lively and warm bass response with a rich midrange and smooth, glassy top end. It’s a great choice for Standard as well as DADGAD and even C tunings. The Engelmann Spruce John used here came from a tree cut from the top of a range in the Rockies, and features incredibly tight grain. John typically preferred not using Engelmann, but these few sets had the qualities we associate with Adirondack—headroom, clarity, power—and John put them to proper use. The Brazilian is even more unique: this prewar straight-grain stock came from a 1937 log that yielded only a handful of sets. This lines up with Martin stock of the time as well, and as John believes, could have come from near where Martin sourced their coastal Brazilian Rosewood with its characteristic reds and dark winter growth lines.
