A stunning collaboration between father-and-son duo Dale & Tyler Unger and hyperrealist painter Peter Maier. The Versailles is based on the Ungers’ Elite model, here paired with Maier’s inspiration from Wagner dance music in a panoply of vibrant, metallic hues. Here’s a snapshot of Maier’s process: https://vimeo.com/523568115. The result is an archtop quite unlike any other. The 14.5” lower bout and slim build weight make for an easy playing experience; plus a Lollar P90 with tortoise cover for a lively amplified tone that threads the needle between rich and punchy.
The American Archtop Versailles—dressed in Flamed Maple and European Spruce—is ready to be the centerpiece of your collection.

Walking into the Artisan Guitar Show, the first thing everyone saw was Dale Unger's amazing new collaboration with artist Peter Maier. Fine art & fine archtops, a perfect synergy. Peter's paintings have sold for more than $250,000, and his style perfectly blends with the archtop guitar and accentuates the beautiful curves of the guitar itself. Of course you are also getting a world-class guitar with the incredible tone and playability that Dale Unger is known for. This is new, this is exciting, this is magical. Guitar and art at a new level.
I'm equally drawn to soak this one up with my eyes as with my hands--ditto for the other Unger/Maier collaboration we got in! I love the metallic motif, set off against pale Maple and a white top.
