Description

Laurent Brondel's The 18 is a powerhouse guitar inspired by, and in some ways surpassing, the classic prewar Martin OM. This one features Honduran Mahogany back and sides, Red Spruce top, and a few modern features like a carbon fiber reinforced neck and EVO frets. A dark shade top finish immediately grabs the eye, but is almost forgotten once you actually put fingers to strings--the voice is quick and lively, goes from 0 to 100 in a flash, and is just downright fun. Looking for a modern take on a prewar classic? Brondel's The 18 will do nicely!

I've known Laurent Brondel a long time and sold numerous guitars from him all of which have been well loved by us here in the shop and the clients who were fortunate enough to purchase them. In the last few years I've had numerous clients tell me how wonderful his new vintage inspired "The 18" model is. So of course I ordered one. And he did not disappoint!
 
This guitar more than met my expectations--and they were already pretty high. Honduran Mahogany and Adirondack Spruce is a powerhouse combination, and perfectly appropriate on Laurent's "The 18" model. Quick and snappy, punches right through the mix, excellent string energy. What's not to love?
