Verreydt, Walter
Walter Verreydt made his first guitar in 1985. As a woodworker teacher and music lover, it was a logical step to take an interest in the construction of musical instruments. His passion for the sound of the classical guitar drove him to guitar building. From the start, Walter had the opportunity to study the work of renowned builders such as Bouchet, Fleta, Hernandez-Aguado, and others. He also had good contacts with eminent luthiers such as José Romanillos and Daniël Friederich. This was a rich source of information for him. In Granada he became acquainted with the elegant and refined southern Spanish guitar building tradition. Since 1988 Walter Verreydt has been teaching at the Center for Musical Instrument Building in Puurs (Belgium). In addition to the necessary basic techniques, he tries to instill an affinity for the instrument and the craft in his students.
