With a background in building guitars for McPherson and in designing the acoustic line for Paul Reed Smith, Steve Fischer has honed his lutherie skills to razor-sharp with the introduction of his own line of Steve Fischer Guitars. His exceptional talent is ever-present in this Moderna nylon crossover, made with gorgeous Madagascar Rosewood and Alaskan Yellow Cedar. The sweet, focused tone of the Cedar top is immediately evident, and is complimented perfectly by the Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, creating a voice that's both utterly musical and authoritative. The narrower neck and radiused fingerboard make this an ideal instrument for the steel string player wanting to expand their collection with a nylon string.
Nylon string crossovers are tremendously popular these days, and Steve Fischer is making some of the best ones out there. His Moderna model has all the features one expects from a crossover -- narrower nut width, radiused fingerboard, and modern styling, but it's the voice that sets it apart. Articulation, projection, and sustain are all exceptional, thanks not only to the awesome Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, but also speaks to his loyalty to the Torres bracing scheme. The intimate sweetness of the stunning Alaskan Yellow Cedar top really puts this crossover head-and-shoulders above the rest.
This Fischer Moderna is a nice crossover that is perfect for steel string players who want to branch out to get that nylon sound.
