Here we have a very strong SJ from Kent Hamblin crafted in Cocobolo Rosewood which provides a big push of rich power. It's topped with Cedar for added warmth and outfitted with a cutaway and naturally beautiful wood appointments. There are curly Maple bindings from top to bottom, a spalted rosette and a K&K pickup. This guitar was owned by recording artist Jim Tozier and seems to have matured nicely under his fingers, it's wide open and alive. It has a driving sound that we really like and can also be polite and beautiful when asked..
While a young luthier Kent Hamblin has a ton of experience including teaching at the famed Roberto-Venn school of luthery and working with master luthier Charles Fox. His own designs are fresh looking and bold sounding. I love the power and clarity his guitars possess. This guitar has the great wood combination of Cocobolo and Cedar which makes for a strong sound that is also warm and lush. This is a great guitar for fingerstyle and also strums nicely. Kent let's the wood shine and make the statement and it does so here in spades.
A beautiful instrument to look at and play. The Cocobolo body has good projection and the Cedar adds full warmth.
