Description

John Buscarino’s catalog includes everything from nylon string crossovers to straight ahead flattops, archtops, and the experimental space in between. This 2011 Rhapsody model features flattop bracing on its Adirondack Spruce top, but John carved the Plum Pudding Mahogany back in the style of an archtop guitar. The result is a voice that combines warmth with punch—an excellent flatpicking machine that can cover a lot of territory. John added a fleur-de-lis soundport to the upper bout to keep the player in tune with their tunes, and a K&K Pure Mini pickup for onstage work.

John Buscarino is a dear friend of the shop, and we are so lucky that he lives just 100 miles from us. He has created some of the finest guitars on the planet in his long career, which included working with the great Bob Benedetto. His Rhapsody design is an exciting one to me, and arched back flattop steel string guitar that gives you wonderful elements of steel string and archtop. Very lively and responsive as an acoustic instrument, but with added focus and clarity and punch from the carved back. The Plum Pudding Mahogany used on this instrument as one of a few sets John had and was very proud of because of the wonderful voice. And of course it is quite beautiful.
