‘A method of critical analysis of philosophical and literary language which emphasizes the internal workings of language and conceptual systems, the relational quality of meaning, and the assumptions implicit in forms of expression.’ That’s what you’ll find in the Oxford Dictionary under the word Deconstruction. What you won’t find, however, is this guitar from Michihiro Matsuda.
This 2020 Deconstruction is a sight to behold and a sonic wonderland. Endlessly captivating visually and equally stunning sonically, it features a Kent Armstrong PAF-style pickup paired with a Dazzo soundboard transducer. The soundboard itself has been scorched with gunpowder, and in place of a traditional headstock lies a vast creative field of sonic, ergonomic, and visual innovation. This instrument is art, experiment, and inspiration all at once.
