2015 Greven OM 40 Style 1937, with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides and a master-grade Adirondack Spruce top. An excellent modern offering of a classic, true-to-form vintage design. With ten years under its belt at the time of publication, this one is wide open and alive.
It features a full neck profile, wide spacing at the nut and saddle, and that ever-comfortable OM body. Often, a guitar that can do many things well loses a bit of character in the process—but one of the hallmarks of the pre-war OM is its ability to handle everything with authority. This Greven captures that perfectly.
For fingerstyle, it’s a dream; for flatpicking, it feels like it has unlimited headroom. This medium-sized box is a true banjo-killer (we don’t condone the harm of banjos or their caretakers!). Well cared for and well played, this guitar will bring out the best in whoever’s lucky enough to make it their own.
