Brand new from the bench of Laurent Brondel, ‘The 18.’ Built with Adirondack Spruce and Honduran Mahogany, this modern take on the classic 18-style OM is phenomenal—from the hot hide glue construction to the nitrocellulose lacquer finish. However, there’s a new twist: much like the OMs of old, this instrument features a super-rigid neck, but unlike those, it’s reinforced with carbon fiber. Brazilian Rosewood is used for both the fingerboard and bridge. With 1 3/4” at the nut and 2 3/8” at the saddle, this is a fingerpicker’s dream—responsive, balanced, and beautifully built.

Now this is what an OM-18 is supposed to sound like! Quick and right to the point, crisp-snappy fundamental and lively, raring to go with even a light touch. Plus Laurent bakes some extra heft into those middle frequencies to coax an extra layer of fullness to the overall voice.
