Brand new R.1 from the one and only Tyler Robbins, decked out in Bois de Rose and Carpathian Spruce. Bois de Rose isn’t a tonewood we see every day—and we’d love for that to change. It’s easy to understand why it’s so often considered an alternative to Brazilian Rosewood: it’s as rich in sound as it is in appearance. The dark crimson and burgundy tones of the back and sides are mesmerizing, even before you take in the elegant ornamentation on the top and headplate.
We’re huge fans of Tyler’s modern precision in design and aesthetics, and we especially love his use of natural materials—in this case, Maple for the embellishments. But not just any Maple—it’s been dyed an aqua blue, creating the perfect contrast against the deep crimson hues of the Bois de Rose.
This guitar was crafted alongside a near-twin R.2 model, featuring green appointments, and it’s remarkable how similar the two instruments feel and sound. Both are a testament to the precision, artistry, and tonal excellence of Tyler Robbins. Please take a look and a listen for yourself.
