Brand New R.2 from the one and only Tyler Robbins, decked out in Bois de Rose and Carpathian Spruce. Bois de Rose isn’t a tonewood we see every day, and we’d love for that to change. It’s easy to see why it’s so often considered an alternative to Brazilian Rosewood—it’s every bit as rich in sound as it is in appearance. The deep crimson and burgundy tones of the back and sides are mesmerizing, and the ornamentation on the top and headplate only adds to the elegance.
We’re huge fans of Tyler’s modern precision in aesthetics, and we love seeing him incorporate natural materials into his designs—in this case, Maple for the embellishments. However, unlike its larger sibling, the R.1, this R.2 features Maple dyed a lush green hue that sits within the blue-green spectrum, leaning more toward green than blue. It’s the perfect contrast to the warm, crimson body and gives this guitar its own unique identity.
This R.2 was crafted as a near-twin to the R.1, differing only in body size and color palette, and it’s remarkable how closely the two align in feel and tone. A true testament to the precision, artistry, and consistency of Tyler Robbins’ work. Please look and listen for yourself.
