Sixteen years old at the time of publication, this 2009 Ziricote and Cedar SJ from Brian Applegate is a beast—full of power, clarity, and precision. It has everything one could love about the pairing of Cedar and a glassy set of Ziricote for the back and sides. An earlier example from Brian, it’s had plenty of time to open up and has been exceptionally well cared for.
With a 25.4″ scale, 1 3/4″ nut, and 2 1/4″ saddle spacing, it features classic fingerstyle specs and delivers that rich, sonorous tone we associate with fine Cedar-topped guitars. It’s also equipped with a K&K Trinity pickup system (preamp not included).
