The Milano by luthier Ric McCurdy, is an extremely impressive semi-hollow electric archtop. It has the feel and vibe of a great vintage guitar, but thanks to some clever electronics, it offers a wealth of new sounds as well. The Charlie Christian style humbucking pickup was hand-wound by none other than legendary pickup builder Seymour Duncan. The sound is sophisticated, with thick trebles, perfect for single note playing and fat rhythm comping. The RMC acoustic bridge pickup is enhanced with a flexible EQ circuit, and blended in with the humbucker, is capable of an astonishing diversity of musical tones. As Ric McCurdy says, "My goal is for you to enjoy playing hour after hour, to own a guitar that maintains its stability but grows in volume, richness and investment value year after year."
This fine guitar really turned some heads when it came through the door. It has a wonderful feeling chunky neck, that plays sublimely. This is a very nice archtop, that can sound traditional or blaze new sonic trails - either way, it's a true joy to play!
This is a very cool guitar. The combination of the Seymour Duncan Humbucking Charlie Christian pickup and the RMC acoustic bridge pickup make it very versatile. I love the retro look and the neck feels like an old Gibson jazz guitar. I played the sample with flatwound strings, but I bet the acoustic pickup would really excel with roundwounds.
