Brent McElroy describes his philosophy of guitar building as a balance between tone, strength, playability and beauty. From where we sit he's hitting on all cylinders. For years we've heard great things about Brent but just not had one in the shop. We just received 2 and we are thrilled with both. This Standard Model has a wonderful understated beauty and elegantly simple appointments. It's crafted from Indian Rosewood and Adirondack Red Spruce making it classic and versatile. Brent achieves the rare combination of power and sheer beauty of tone, with wonderful bass response paired with high-end shimmer. The Amboyna Burl Rosette makes a stunning centerpiece for this superb McElroy guitar.
This is the perfect choice for the player seeking an all around great guitar. Adirondack Red Spruce over Rosewood in Brent McElroy's Standard shape is extremely versatile. You can drive this one for blues and Rags or you can lay back and play sweet pieces as well. There's a cutaway for full access and lovely appointments such as a bound fingerboard and headstock and a stunning Amboyna Burl Rosette. You'd have to spend $8-10K to top this one...
This is a very attractive guitar, elegant and simple. The oil finish neck gives it a great feel. Even with the large body size, the bass is controlled and sweet making it very versatile.
