Brand New Bil Mitchell L-00, Flame Maple/Adirondack Spruce
Bil Mitchell is here to offer us a brand new L-00 12 fretter from his shop that’s wide awake and crooning. This one features Flame Maple plus Adirondack Spruce. Lovely sunburst throughout which lets the grain come through, and Flame Maple bindings to really make it pop. The voice is quick and lively, and oh so easy to play with a short scale, 24.75″ setup.

1932 Martin OM-28, Brazilian Rosewood/Adirondack Spruce
A piece of 1932 that’s alive and well. Here we’ve landed a Martin OM-28 in strong playing shape with some repairs over the years, plus an incredibly wide open, expressive voice. You just can’t get this with a torrefication rig! The Adirondack Spruce top has opened up completely in the past 90 years; the trebles particularly thick, present, and articulate. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides have had some cracks repaired, but are in great playing shape. It’s incredible to see such “boring” Brazilian Rosewood, the grain is arrow straight. Bar frets along the fingerboard have been dressed by our own repair staff, and they feel excellent under your fingertips. V neck has been played in over the years and feels like your favorite old pair of jeans.

2015 Ryan Nightingale Grand Soloist Signature, Brazilian Rosewood/Engelmann Spruce
There are Ryans, and then there are Ryans. For this 2015 build, Kevin upped the ante to astonishing heights as part of his Signature Series line. Only the topmost shelf tonewoods and appointments, including chocolatey Brazilian Rosewood for the body, Engelmann Spruce top, and the incredibly ornate and sprawling pearl appointments that put this Nightingale in a class all its own. There’s an ocean of Black Tahitian Pearl at work here, delicately and intricately inlaid in looping knot work and trimming out the neck, top, sides, back, headstock, bridge, rosette, even the endgraft wedge. It beggars the imagination to consider just how many hours went into every square inch of inlay.

2010 Benedetto 16-B One-Off, Birdseye Maple/Spruce
The name of the game is quick, when it comes to this 2010 Benedetoo 16-B One Off. Slim body and a slim neck make for a very comfortable playing experience, as well as a quick and easy setup with a 25″ scale. Benedetto humbucker with volume and tone sound juicy and fat, even on this narrow-depth body. Finely figured Birdseye Maple back and sides (and neck) plus Spruce on top.

1997 Manzer 12 String, Koa/Sitka Spruce
The 12-string market just got a little brighter: we have a 1997 12-string from Linda Manzer in Koa and Sitka Spruce! The 25 5/8″ scale has easy playability and great intonation across the numerous string gauges in play here, and the added comforts of a Manzer Wedge and Venetian Cutaway make this instrument further improve that playability.
The voice is excellently balanced, and responds well to both a gentle and robust attack. Well played-in and opened up, this Manzer 12-String also comes with a B-Band UST pickup which faithfully translates all the Koa-and-Sitka colorfulness to whatever amp you’d like. Across the fretboard you’ll find on of Linda’s rare Phoenix-and-Chinese-Dragon inlays which, with the simpler Ebony bindings elsewhere, acts as a gorgeous centerpiece to this already attractive display of lutherie at its finest.

1999 Goodall BRSC, Brazilian Rosewood/Sitka Spruce
This Goodall BRSC has the added benefits of age to complement it’s gorgeous tonewoods and easy playability. From 1999, it’s got over 20 years under its belt. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with Sitka Spruce top, 25.5″ scale and 14 fret Mahogany neck, and some lovely Abalone dove inlays along the fingerboard.

2016 Thompson 000-14BA, Shipwreck Brazilian/Adirondack Spruce
At Preston Thompson Guitars, the team has dialed in the process for powerhouse modern traditional flattops like this 2016 000-14BA–and then they go one step further with exquisite Shipwreck Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides! These sets are rare, and are functionally sinker sets, which makes for extra wide open right out the gate. The voice on this one really packs a punch; it sings out like a bigger guitar with even a light attack. Adirondack Spruce on top helps out on that front, and the intervening years have opened it up handsomely. Additionally, this PKT is outfitted with a Trance Audio pickup system, and friends, this one sounds oh so good.

2021 Kim Lissarrague Classical Ziricote/Cedar
So powerful. Kim Lissarrague fits right in with his Australian contemporaries crafting Classicals that pack heaps of power, projection, and headroom into their builds. The Cedar top is extra thin to help achieve this with a lattice bracing system, as are the sturdy reinforced Ziricote sides and arched Ziricote back. Speaking of which, the figuring on the back here is out of this world! Coming to us from 2021, this Classical is already oh so wide awake.

2001 McCollum Meghann, Claro Walnut/Flamed Redwood
A gorgeous Meghann model from the late, great Lance McCollum, coming to us from 2001. Lance was one of the good guys of the guitar world and his instruments are always inspiring and special. For this smaller-bodied instrument, Lance chose a premium set of Claro Walnut for the body and topped it with highly figured Redwood. This combination creates both a powerful and warm voice. The trebles are alive and sweet and very expressive. The bass is punchy and round. The scale is 25.75″ allowing this small guitar to work perfectly for both Standard and alternate tunings. A versatile beauty from a special maker.

Brand New Ramin C-Stage Classical, Amazon Rosewood/European Spruce
Here we’ve landed a brand new C-Stage classical from Istanbul’s Ramin Fallah, dressed up with premium tonewoods and some fresh aesthetics to envigorate the classical format. Amazon Rosewood back and sides pair up with a European Spruce top that features lots of dramatic bearclaw figuring and is french polished for maximum resonance. The body is finished elsewhere with poly for added durability. 650mm scale plus a 52mm nut will feel right at home, and at the headstock we find a understated geometric motif inlaid into the Wenge headplate that adds a touch of modernity that we find quite refreshing. Additionally, Ramin has installed his take on a soundport at the bass side upper bout, a feature that aids the player in hearing their tone.

Brand New Applegate SJ, Indian Rosewood/Engelmann Spruce
Right out the gate, our latest SJ from Brian Applegate is raring to go. Quick and energetic voice, very snappy response that adds a bit of electricity to your playing, and all in a lightweight package (under four pounds) that feels like so many feathers in your hands and on your lap. Brian decked this beauty out with a 26.25-24.9″ multiscale, so you’ve got lots of room to tune to C on the bottom end, but the trebles stilll play easily with a short scale setup. Indian Rosewood body with Engelmann Spruce on top, EVO frets, cutaway, and Brian’s interlocking Abalone diamonds rosette (plus a subtly twisted series of purflings on the back) dress things up with some good sparkle, but let the quality of the tonewoods and the clean curves of Brian’s design to shine even more.

1985 Olson Jumbo, Indian Rosewood/Alaska Sitka Spruce
Now here’s an Olson that stands apart from the crowd! Very well-known for his Small Jumbos, Jim also has built a number of full-size Jumbos, and this gorgeous sunburst number from 1985 proves to us that he’s just as capable with the bigger size. Wide awake and quick! This one features a three-piece Indian Rosewood back, Sitka Spruce top, and some good-looking snowflakes in MOP at the fretboard and bridge wings. The red sunburst is an uncommon feature for an Olson, and we love how it lets the Sitka grain shine through. Being from 1985, this one has some play wear and the fine finish checks appropriate for a guitar of this age, and our repair staff recently went over it for a clean bill of health. Looking for the big centerpiece to your collection? This Olson Jumbo is just the supersized ticket.

2006 Veillette Gryphon, Koa/Sitka
Over the years Joe Veillette has worked for a long list of star clients which include the likes of Dave Matthews, Jorma Kaukonen, David Lindley, Kaki King, Ani DiFranco and many others. Often his work included designing unique instruments to fit the needs of pro musicians. One of our alltime favorite designs of his is this Gryphon high-tuned 12 string. The Gryphon is a 18.5″ scale 12 string guitar tuned up to high D, an octave below normal guitar tuning. This gives the Gryphon a mandolin-like sound, though much more colorful and musical, yet it can be played like a regular guitar. Our first reaction was utter amazement at the lush tone and we can see this being extremely useful in many settings from stage to recording. This beauty is Koa and Sitka Spruce.
