Brand new to the Rainsong lineup, a Black Ice Baritone! And we're stoked to have one here in the shop. Short scale (for a Baritone) makes for easy playability, plus the lightweight carbon fiber construction makes for an indestructable and stable body. Here's more from Rainsong:
How do you describe RainSong's JM? Three words: loud, loud, and loud. And if that's not enough, it's also loud. This is the largest body RainSong builds which is ideally suited to the new Baritone model. The sheer size, combined with the attributes of Projection Tuned Layering provides a deep. low end rumble that can go from quit to loud at will. Yet the JM Baritone has a narrow waist making it way more comfortable to play than one might think.
RainSong's Projection Tuned Layering technique tunes the tone without the need for soundboard braces. Abalone rosette. All-graphite body. No body braces. All-graphite neck and epoxy fingerboard fabricated using RainSong's Performance Shape Casting as a single piece with adjustable truss rod. Custom Mother of Pearl sharks. Tusq Nut, saddle. Abalone inlaid Tusq bridgepins. Customized hardshell case. UV protective, high-gloss, clear urethane finish.
As many of you will know I am a big baritone fan and I play one regularly. It makes perfect sense to make one of carbon fiber. A big benefit of the strength of the material will be that you can use a wide range of tunings and string gauges without the neck moving at all. This one's short scale, for a Bari, so very accessible to anyone who might be leery of going to the full long scale baritone. And because it's weatherproof you could take this one everywhere you go :-)
