Description

Here in the shop we have an early example of the excellent work of Masaki Sakurai, which was executed under the supervision of Masaru Kohno in 1975. This no. 5 model in Cedar and beautiful red-hued East Indian Rosewood is lush, warm, and very responsive. Plucked notes rise and bloom in air before slowly fading. This one has been obviously played extensively over the years, which reflects the excellent tonal quality and what's more, has really allowed the guitar to open up and blossom fully, making this an excellent choice for the performing musician.

I've had many guitars from the Kohno/Sakurai workshop come through Dream Guitars over the years, and the rarely stick around for long. Their dedication to quality craftsmanship and using only the finest, well-seasoned tonewoods is widely known, and their guitars are highly sought after as a result. This gem is no different -- with the first plucked chord, you can hear how fully open this guitar really is. Notes are full, with fantastic sustain and great clarity. This guitar is a wonderful example of Sakurai's early talent, and a terrific bargain at that.
