Description

The Sakurai Model P.C. is a reproduction of the guitar awarded the first prize at the International Guitar Making Competition in Paris, 1988. This guitar, like the winning instrument of 1988, is handmade by Masaki Sakurai, master luthier at Sakurai Guitars and Kohno Guitars. This is one of the very finest Sakurai instruments featuring premium Brazilian Rosewood with a Master Grade Spruce top with a unique blend of fan and lattice style bracing. It is extremely open and warm sounding and has that amazing clarity that Masaki Sakurai mastered as head luthier at Kohno. The P.C. is adorned tastefully with intricate purflings, maple body bindings and maple inlays on the headstock and bridge. Masaki makes very few of this P.C. model and they are very special indeed.

Masaki Sakurai is the nephew of legendary luthier Masura Kohno and he now is the maker of Kohno guitars as well as his own signature instruments. This pre-owned P.C. has been played enough to be really vibrant and loud. The unique bracing gives it power and clarity, this guitar will fill a hall beautifully. The playability is something that cannot be overstated.

This guitar has a sweetness that is missing in many high-end classical guitars. It's responsive and balanced as well, a real joy to play.
