Description

If you're a fingerstyle Jazz player looking for a smaller rig that's easier on the body to play, look no further than the Gosling from Soloway Guitars. Jim Soloway approached the problem that arose when players encountered enormous Jazz box archtops and were unable to play them comfortably by combining a Jazz-style neck and fingerboard with a semi-hollow body (here made of Ash and Sitka Spruce) with a single fat Humbucker Pickup below the fretboard. With a nut width of 1 13/16", this is definitely a fingerstylist's guitar--complex and peculiar Jazz chords will lay themselves at your fingertips--which is probably why Jim featured it on the cover and in the recordings of his solo album Bare Handed!

The humbucker and semi-hollow body combine to give the Gosling a sweet, fat tone with warm and mellow lows that you wouldn't ordinarily expect from an electric guitar of these dimensions. Ideal for gigging, this extra portable Jazz box-inspired guitar boasts smooth playability and a flawless finish--this Gosling is practically mint.

This is a particularly unique electric, since it offers the ease of a Stratocaster's body with the fingerboard profile and Humbucker setup of an Archtop. I think it's effortlessly playable.

With the humbucking style pickup, it sounds really great, and the tone is awesome.
