To all of our loving clients who have asked us, "If I buy this one, will I sound like Al?" this Weber Beartooth A Style Mandolin is about as close as we can get you to that lofty ideal - After all, it is Al's personal mandolin! This one is in gorgeous Flamed Maple and a hand graduated and tuned Spruce top that plays like a dream. The setup is perfect and the tone is woody and sweet, dense and rich all at once. With its chop and strength, it's an incredibly versatile instrument and fits well for anything from Bluegrass to Celtic, or pretty much anything Al would play! Be sure and call us up quick before it's gone...
I've had the chance to see a lot of fantastic instruments of all shapes and sizes over the years. But despite all my experience, Al still manages to find ones like this mandolin that just blow me away. It's tons of fun!
I love this mandolin and I love the tone of the A model with the F-holes. This was the top of the line instrument for Weber when it was still being produced. It's sweet but still has a lot of power. I used this when I taught a mandolin class at the Swannanoa Gathering (that's where I dinged the top) and I played it on Amy's Golden Wing album. Amy used this as her primary instrument for a number of years and played it on our CDs A Midnight Clear,Golden Wing,The Land of the Sky, Acoustic Journey and Winter Tidings.
