Description

Laurie Williams is famous for building gorgeous instruments from the extremely rare ancient Kauri wood found only in the northern most parts of New Zealand. This wood is pulled from peet swamps where it has been preserved for thousands of years. It's golden color and silky grain make it among the most striking of tonewoods. This particular Tui guitar is fully open and has a big, big voice and love to be pushed hard.

This Tui unusually powerful with strong projection. It sound excellent for strong styles like blues and adds the unique voice of the ancient Kauri to the music. Played softly the beautiful ring of sympathetic vibrations and harmonics sing like a choir. A superb Williams with enough play time to have it singing it's heart out!

Kauri wood has a distinctive tone that favors the midrange frequencies. The unwound strings take on new life with lots of power and the wound strings are clear and separate. This guitar is a good strummer but works really well as a fingerstyle instrument.
