Description

Gary Zimnicki has hand crafted well over 200 instruments and that is something to be very proud of. Very few luthiers ever reach that mark. But it's clear that Gary loves his craft and that he knows how to build for tone and beauty in equal parts. This cutaway 14 fret Steel String features gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood with striking grain and deep color. It's paired with Engelmann spruce for a pure tone that is strong and clear with good fundamentals and a hint of sparkle and overtones to make it complete. The nut is slightly wider making it ideal for fingerstyle and the 25 1/4" scale makes the tension a joy.

I love the voice of this guitar, it's is pure and fundamental by nature, meaning it's not overpowered with overtones. It makes it clear and sweet for the fingerstyle player who wants to hear all the nuances and details within a piece. There are of course overtones and shimmer, but they are subtle and beautiful. The slightly shorter scale is easy to play and the woods are superb, this AAAA Brazilian Rosewood is gorgeous and clearly enhances the tone with rich body and character.

Quite a guitar for the money, the tone is balanced and sweet and the woods are top notch.
