Paul Reed Smith is known for building some of the finest electric guitars in the world, pick up this McCarty Signature edition and you will know why. 2006 McCollum Baritone Brazilian/German
Here we have a Lance McCollum Baritone in premium Brazilian Rosewood and German Spruce. A combination proven time and time again by many Luthiers to be sublime. Lance bound this beauty with Flamed Koa and adorned the tight grained top with a custom Rosette. Though we lost Lance a few years back his reputation as one of the premiere builders for Baritone guitar lives on. He made over 30, far more than most builders do in a lifetime. They are special!

1989 Martin HOM35 60th Anniversary #21/60 Brazilian/Sitka Spruce
This little Martin HOM-35 is a sweet little gem. Made from Brazilian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce top, this OM has a great voice with apparent overtones and a sweet reverb like quality thanks in part to the Brazilian Rosewood. The HOM-35 model marks the sixtieth anniversary of the Martin OM, and this one is number 21 of the 60 made to commemorate the occasion. We found this guitar to work particularly well for sweet fingerpicking melodies, but jazz oriented pieces sound stellar on this OM as well. We are fortunate enough to have three of these anniversary models in the shop right now and each one has a different voice that brings a little something different to the table. This one is all sweet tones, it’s beautiful.

1989 Martin HOM35 60th Anniversary #16/60 Brazilian/Sitka Spruce
This is another of the Martin HOM-35 Anniversary models that we have in the shop. Number 16 of 60, it is a little less played in than numbers 21 and 60 and has considerably less play wear. The voice on this one is stellar, with the Brazilian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce having had more than three decades to mature. The results of its age are evident everywhere in its voice, full and rich and capable. While all of the three HOM-35s that we received have powerful voices, we find this one works slightly better for flatpicking and strumming. Come give it a play! You won’t regret it.

2002 Tippin DST 12 Madagascar/Alpine
Bill Tippin is one of the heavyweights in the hand built guitar world, he consistently builds some of the most jaw dropping guitars that we have come through the shop. This DST model in Alpine Spruce and Madagascar Rosewood is no different – it is brilliant. Tone is the name of the game with this guitar and it is a monster! The bass is huge and gut rumbling with very beautiful, clean trebles. Flatpickers are sure to love the power of this guitar, but that isn’t all it can do, it is also incredibly responsive and adept to fingerpicking.

2012 Running Dog Mini Jumbo Koa/Italian
Here we have a Running Dog Mini Jumbo in Italian Spruce and Hawaiian Koa. This guitar is well suited for fingerstyle playing. The trebles shimmer on the melody thanks in part to the Koa and the running dog voicing, while the basses are present but never competing for sonic space. Playing this running dog feels as a well thought out fingerstyle guitar should, comfortable and natural.

2013 Merrill 00-18 Mahogany/Adirondack (Red)
This Merrill 00-18 is one that you will have to tie to your lap it is so light! Built from Mahogany and Adirondack Spruce, this little guy has all the makings of a incredible pre war style guitar. The tone is just loaded into this little body, it is so full and so lush, it took us completely by surprise. Everything we played on this one was handled gracefully, this is the definition of a versatile guitar. Grab this one while you can, it’s truly special!

2014 McConnell 15 Inch Brazilian/European
Jordan McConnell is quickly becoming the go to guy in the modern guitar world, we have known him for a while and Dream Guitars owner Paul Heumiller even owns a McConnell. We know why his guitars are gaining so much praise, they are fantastic in every way. This McConnell in European Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood has a modern tone with ample overtone content and an eveness from bass to trebles that is surprising and entirely pleasing. Jordan added some cool appointments to this one, like the patchwork rosette and headstock overlay, the wonderfully comfortable shellaced neck, to the beautifully figured Brazilian Rosewood back, This McConnell is an all out heart breaker.

1964 Fleta Concert East Indian/Spruce
There are few guitar makers who are as legendary as Ignacio Fleta, His guitars were so well regarded that the great master Andres Segovia chose a Fleta as his personal guitar for years. Along with Segovia, John Williams is a champion of the Fleta guitar. Fleta Classicals are prized for the clarity and power, they are able to fill up a concert hall better than the more delicate Torres style of guitar. This particular Fleta in East Indian Rosewood and Spruce has some of the most powerful treble strings we have heard, playing a tremelo sounds out full and clear, that is a real feat for a classical. The bass and mids are well represented here as well, they are rich and focused, never out playing the beautiful trebles, but complementing perfectly. The Fleta guitar is about as rare as they come, expecially built by Ignacio himself, even now in the third generation of builders there is a twenty year wait list for a Fleta.

Kinnaird, John East Honduran/Adirondack (Red)
Here we have a John Kinnaird “East” model in Honduran Rosewood and Adirondack (Red) Spruce. This is a sweet and elegant little guitar, just right for playing on your couch or by the fire on a cold winters night. The voice is warm and smooth, with a notable roundness to the treble strings. This is a perfect fingerstyle guitar, the set up is just right for the left hand. This is a guitar you could play endlessly.

2010 Muiderman Steel String Macassar/Bearclaw Sitka
Here we has a Muiderman Steel String in Bearclaw Sitka Spruce and Macassar Ebony. Kevin Muiderman is known building exceptionally powerful and responsive guitars, both Steel string and Classical. Kevin has quite the progressive design when it comes to his bracing scheme, he uses a a small brace profile topped with carbon fiber. We find this gives excellent projection, sustain and articulation. If you are looking for a powerful fingerpicking guitar that can fill up an auditorium with ease, we think this is the one for you.

2007 McGill Turbo Cocobolo/Cedar
If Paul McGill ever builds a less-than-stellar guitar, the end times are upon us. The man’s got serious skills, and a reputation to match–and his Turbo model is one of the best calling cards in the business. What makes the Turbo so hot to trot? McGill employs a unique five-fan brace pattern, along with long struts that span the entire length of the body, to create a vigorous tone which fuses traditional Spanish warmth with the clarity of modern lattice braces. Certainly, a Cedar top and Cocobolo Rosewood back and sides help take that warm precision and crank up the projection and richness factors, until this 2007 Turbo becomes a vehicle for both vibrant crescendos and a subtle adagio.
Paul’s craftsmanship is top-notch, so you can rest assured that every other aspect of this guitar is in tip-top shape, including the new jumbo frets with which Paul refretted this powerhouse in 2009, and his tasteful aesthetic (the fuchsia rosette and purflings are here pulled off in handsome style). As if all of that weren’t enough, this Turbo also has a glass-smooth neck profile, with a slinky setup and low action for articulate, expressive playing.

2007 Ramirez 1a 125th Anniversary Madagascar Rosewood/German Spruce
This is the Ramirez 125th Anniversary model, number 2 of 125, and this one will knock your socks off. At this price point you would certainly demand something special, and here we have it. Gorgeous Madagascar Rosewood sides and back (with striking webby red highlights), a Spanish Cedar neck, and an amazingly fine-grained German Spruce top. This is a guitar that proudly stands out in our well stocked classical room. She’s just waiting for a strong player to bring her to life. The Anniversary Guitar was especially designed by Amalia Ramírez to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the founding of the firm. The design pays tribute to the beauty of the guitars of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This is a limited series of 125 guitars and there will be no re-editions. In order to emphasize the exclusive nature of each guitar, each one will feature a unique drawing that will be inlaid in marquetry entirely by hand on the back of the headstock.
