2006 Beneteau Baritone Brazilian/Bearclaw Adirondack
Here we have a custom Beneteau Baritone in Brazilian Rosewood and Bearclaw Adirondack(Red) Spruce. This is the cream of the crop in Baritone land and was originally commissioned by Paul Heumiller, owner of Dream Guitars. This Beneteau guitar has it all, beauty, tone, and playability… the Trifecta. It take a great luthier to be able to voice a Baritone guitar properly, they can often be voice to be muddy or to tight sounding. This Beneteau has hit the perfect balance, it has a gut rumbling bass presence and full sonorous trebles. It is a thing of beauty. Playabilty on a Baritone is a big issue, the longer scale can often make it feel like you are doing gymnastics, that is not the case here, the action is set nice and low, making this Bari play like a dream. This really is worth the tittle of ‘Dream Guitar.”

The Gitjo was made to offer guitarists a chance to make that banjo twang. The six string banjo is not a new concept, however this Lame Horse Gitjo is full of style and has a sound everyone loves. This is a really fun instrument that will give you a whole other sound on stage, in the studio or on your front porch. From Blues to Old Time to Celtic you’ll love having this in your arsenal.

Master Luthier Charles Fox has been in the forefront of modern Guitar technology for many years, he has some of the most unique designs and techniques in building that we have ever seen. We have come to expect great things from the Fox workshop, we weren’t disappointed when we first played this Sitka and Brazilian Rosewood Sierra Crossover. This crossover is a little more tame in design compared to the Ergo, but the tone is still all Fox, we think this may be one of the best crossovers ever. Charles has achieved a true classical like tone here, but in the package of a steel string guitar. If the standard two inch classical neck is to much for your fret hand, this is your guitar. Play Beautiful classical pieces or rock out a little bit, this Fox won’t care!

John Walker was a long time employe of the Gibson Guitar Company, he even helped start the custom shop. From there he went on to help at the Gurian factory, creating many of the pins and purflings you see on the bigger factory made guitars. It is no surprise to us that he builds incredible guitars. This is the Wise River model in Adirondack Spruce and Mahogany. Old Gibson fans are going to love the look, feel and sound of this guitar. It has that classic smooth tone we expect from a slope shoulder dread that we find works well for fingerpicking and strumming.

We think this L-3 is perfectly suited for blues and ragtime, it has that throaty growl that really lends something special to those styles of music. playability is as good as it would have been all the way back in 1918, smooth and fast. The big neck really sits in the hand nicely. This is a treasure of a guitar that has had no telling how much great music played into it, pick this one up and add a little of your own voice and history to it.

This Osthoff GP was hand chosen by us at the Woodstock guitar show, it was special right when we picked it up then, even in that loud environment. When we finally got it back here to the shop the first thing that was said when we all played it was “Wow.” This Osthoff is a full stop, jaw dropping, double taking kind of guitar, and that doesn’t do it justice. The tone is like hot mulled cider with a little honey and whiskey thrown in. There is no string on this guitar that doesn’t sing sweetly and have individual character. There really is only one way to fully understand how incredible this guitar is, and that is to come in and experience it in person. John kept the appointments simple on this one, old Mahogany and a perfect set of Italian Spruce, it is clean and elegant lines here. We are glad he chose not to fancy this one up to much, the tone of the guitar is the all out star, come in and hear this thing before someone buys it, The DG crew are already eyeing it pretty heavily for themselves!

With this guitar, you’ve got a chance to be a part of the future of all guitars. David MacCubbin has entered this instrument in the Sonic Sitka Project, an attempt by luthier Denis Merrill and others to document the impacts of aging on tonewoods under tension, and to quantify the sonic changes that happens to the top with time. Why do older guitars sound better? The Sonic Sitka Project is one of the first comprehensive efforts to pursue an answer to that question. The data recorded from this guitar will one day help luthiers to better understand the physics of their tops, and thus improve the voices of future guitars.
The stunning Bearclaw Sitka Spruce which Denis provided to over 90 luthiers is here accompanied by a perfect set of Madagascar Rosewood, giving this guitar a refined elegance in appearance and tone. Playing this guitar is an enveloping experience: from the first notes plucked the sound surrounds the musician in resounding sustain. The bottom end is tight and controlled, with a snappy tone which begs for thumbpicked basslines, and the other registers are bright and expressive, with great string-to-string separation for fingerstyle arrangements. No stranger to flatpicks, this guitar opens up beautifully with an aggressive attack, allowing a sweet array of overtones to fill out the voice.

This joint project celebrates the amazing guitars of its namesake in exquisite detail. Custom etched inlay from Doug Unger adorn this beauty from head to toe and his work is incredibly precise and full of mysteries. A stunning variety of materials were employed to make this one shimmer in an almost iridescent fashion from every angle, but breathtaking looks aside, the tone of this piece is monstrous.
