Andersen Archtop Maple/Adirondack
This guitar is an archtop with a warmer sound than the traditional design. The oval soundhole gives the guitar more sustain than the f-hole top. It has the projection and power of a great archtop, with the harmonic complexity and sustain more common to the flattop. This makes the guitar very versatile whether played with a flatpick or fingertips, fast or slow, loud or soft.

2002 Claxton EM Figured Mahogany/Adirondack Red
This is what mahogany is all about. Paired here with Adirondack it gives this guitar multiple gears. Played sweetly you get mahogany’s wonderful clarity and breath but push it a bit and up comes a powerful throaty growl. The Adirondack is perfect on top and adds sparkle and tons of headroom. 2005 Ryan Nightingale Soloist Cocobolo/Adirondack Red
What a set of Cocobolo! and this guitar may as well be new, it’s absolutely perfect. Kevin gets a great tone from Cocobolo, a close relative to Brazilian Rosewood. 2002 Breedlove C25 Custom Striped Ebony/Bearclaw Sitka
This is one beautiful, fully custom C25 from Breedlove. For starters there is gorgeous Striped Ebony paired with a highly bearclawed Sitka top. This is augmented by Bloodwood bindings, abalone top border and a stunning inlay of 2 Swallows playing in mid air. An interrupted rosette completes the package. The bass response is outrageous on this guitar and it is accompanied by shimmering trebles. A rare and beautiful Breedlove for sure.

Moreira OM Brazilian/German
Steel string guitars from builders that also build nylons always seem to have a wonderful breath in the tone. That is certainly the case here. Once again Rodrigo has selected an amazing set of Brazilian Rosewood, this time with a symmetrical center section of deep, brick-red, color on the back. But it doesn’t stop there, the bridge, fingerboard and headstock are all Brazilian with beautiful brick hues. Add German Spruce and you get a voice that is at once sparkling and lush.

2004 Goodall TBROM Brazilian/Adirondack Red
The Traditional series guitars from Goodall combine Adirondack spruce tops, prewar style bracing and traditional appointments for a vintage character and tone. This lovely guitar also adds dark, rich Brazilian Rosewood for added depth and complexity, not to mention beauty… The tone has Goodall’s trademark sparkle and overtone but with more sweet midrange and a fuller bottom end.

1929 Gibson L-1 Mahogany/Spruce
Here we have a very rare transitional L-1/L-00 from 1929 with the Robert Johnson specs. Only about 200 of these were made with these specs. The gorgeous dark brown sunburst is absolutely breathtaking. This beauty has been recently renovated by master luthier Bill Tippin so it should not need any work for a few more decades. The tone is simply magical, it’s as light as a feather and the notes fly out on wings.

Charles Hoffman has been making wonderful instruments for over 30 years. You can see the experience when you hold this guitar, every detail is cleanly executed.
