2018 Tim Frick Oriole 16″ Archtop, Bigleaf Maple/Sitka Spruce
A first for us here at Dream Guitars—this is a 2018 Tim Frick Oriole 16″ Archtop, and it’s an absolute stunner. Built with Sitka Spruce over Bigleaf Maple, this hand-carved Jazz box is light, alive, and resonant in a way that immediately grabs your attention. Tim’s work is known for its elegance, and this Oriole delivers in every detail.
From the Lollar Johnny Smith-style humbucker to the beveled soundport, this guitar is full of thoughtful design choices that elevate both tone and experience. The subtle burst finish brings out the natural beauty of the woods—especially the figure in the Maple—and the overall visual aesthetic is one of quiet sophistication.
Unplugged, it’s articulate and sweet, with a dry, woody tone perfect for intimate sessions. Plugged in, it opens up into something truly otherworldly—rich, expressive, and endlessly musical.
This is a builder to watch and a guitar that speaks volumes about where modern archtop lutherie is headed.

$16,640 Add to cartScale Length 25.4 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.188 in Woods Spruce - Italian, Rosewood - Brazilian 1980 Olson Dreadnought, Indian Rosewood/Spruce
An extraordinary early gem from the legendary bench of Jim Olson—serial number 56, and the earliest Olson we’ve ever had the pleasure of offering here at Dream Guitars. This is a 1980 Olson Dreadnought built with Indian Rosewood back and sides paired with a Spruce top, and it’s a remarkable window into the genesis of one of the most sought-after modern luthiers in the world.
Already in this early work, you can see Jim experimenting with and refining the tonal architecture that would later define his signature sound: clarity, balance, and warmth, all housed in a traditional dreadnought frame. The Indian Rosewood delivers depth and power, while the Spruce top offers a quick, articulate response—qualities that have only improved with decades of play.
A Schertler Bluestick pickup has been installed, making this piece ready for the stage as well as the studio. And yes, this guitar has been played—and beautifully so. The honest play wear tells a story of music made and miles traveled, the kind of patina that speaks to a life well lived in sound. We love seeing instruments like this: well-loved, open, and alive.
For the collector, this is an incredibly rare opportunity to own a historically significant Olson, from a time before his waitlist stretched for years and his name became synonymous with bespoke tone. And for the player, it’s a chance to experience the roots of that Olson magic—warm, articulate, and undeniably musical.

This was our first from Rory Dowling of Taran Guitars! What a first it is, this large body fingerstyle beast is comprised of Master Grade African Blackwood and Master Grade Italian Spruce. Where to begin with this guitar? Each note is rich, powerful and clear. This is a rare instance in which a guitar is so obviously powerful and delicate to the player. There is a sweetness and profound epic quality to this instrument. Like something out of an Arthurian tale, or some beast epic. This guitar is a symphonic masterpiece. Sonic qualities aside, this instrument as a thing of beauty. From the pureness of fit and finish, to the hidden appointments. Just take a peek inside and see for yourself.

2009 Brondel B-2CA — the B-2 is Laurent’s 000/OM body size. This example features some incredible Cocobolo for the back and sides, paired with Carpathian Spruce on top. It also includes something quite rare: an adjustable neck. Visually striking, this feature is also a highly effective way of maintaining long-term playability. With 12 frets to the body and a wider nut at 1 25/32″, this is a fingerstyle machine — though it also handles a flatpick quite well. Very versatile, visually compelling, and a great opportunity to own an excellent guitar from one of the finest luthiers around. This guitar recently went through the workshop of Laurent Brondel and received a clean bill of health, so it’s ready for more action.

Brand New Laskin Calm, Ziricote/Sitka Spruce
This exquisite small-body cutaway from Grit Laskin is one half of a themed pair titled Calm and Chaos. This one is Calm.
Ziricote back and sides meet a Sitka spruce top for a tonal response that’s clear and articulate, with the kind of headroom and color that encourages deep listening. Grit’s signature bevels elevate the playing experience—fluid, organic, and incredibly inviting. His abalone-and-mosaic rosette, both structured and luminous, sets the tone visually for what this guitar is about: elegance through restraint.
At the top, a rendering of the Greek goddess Pasithea—goddess of relaxation and meditation—drawn from a rare marble sculpture and interpreted in a stone with similar grain. She was chosen not just for her symbolism, but for her quiet authority. Her presence grounds the theme, just as Pasithea herself was known to bring stillness to the mind.
The fretboard tells a gentle story: a woman seated at the edge of a dock, viewed from behind, watching the water stretch out before her in the last light of day. Three birds in flight arc overhead. There’s a kind of emotional spaciousness in the scene—it’s not trying to say too much. Just enough. Down at the bottom of the fingerboard, a small, perfect arrangement of balanced stones.
Inlaid materials reflect the natural world: deep blue lapis or azurite/malachite for the water, golden mother-of-pearl for the setting sun and cloud edges, with a sky that shifts from warm yellow to soft orange.
This is one of those rare instruments where the visual and the musical are speaking in the same voice. A voice that isn’t loud—but deeply resonant, intentional, and unforgettable.

$14,560 Add to cartScale Length 25.25 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.25 in Woods Spruce - Sitka, Maple 2022 McPherson MG 4.5XP Ziricote/Adirondack Spruce
2022 McPherson MG 4.5XP in Ziricote and Adirondack Spruce. Classic McPherson design features are present here — offset soundhole, koa binding, elevated fingerboard, and an LR Baggs Element pickup.
There’s a lot of range in this instrument; it sounds dark and cavernous for an offset soundhole guitar. Excellent balance across the registers — not too much of any one thing. This is a guitar that speaks for itself. Check out our recording and photographs to get a real understanding of what makes this instrument so special.

$8,320 Add to cartScale Length 25.5 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.125 in Woods Spruce - Adirondack (Red), Ziricote 2010 Legeyt CL, Tasmanian Blackwood/ European Spruce
From 2010, here we have a LeGeyt CL in Tasmanian Blackwood and European Spruce. This is an earlier model from Burton, and it has been recently re-topped by Burton himself, so we have an example of an opened-up but also renewed guitar, made to meet his current standards.
This newly improved small-body has a lot of unique features — from LeGeyt’s signature bridge design, sound port, and demi-cutaway “scoop,” to being equipped with an L.R. Baggs Lyric for true and transparent amplification.
Guitars like this make you wonder why there aren’t more Tasmanian Blackwood guitars. It’s a tonewood very similar to Koa, yet it has a glassiness all its own. Scoop this one up while you can — pun intended.

Here we have another example of Mark Blanchard’s work from the ’90s — this time, a 1999 classical in Indian Rosewood and Engelmann Spruce. A slimmer neck profile makes this a great “crossover-ish” instrument for steel-string players.
1999 was still fairly early in Mark’s career, but we’re already seeing the beginnings of design elements that remain present in his builds to this day. For instance, the rosette: it features Honduran Rosewood surrounding a band of abalone. Honduran Rosewood appointments appear throughout this piece.
