2021 Strahm 00, Brazilian Rosewood/Adirondack Spruce
Wide awake! Raring to go! and nearly new from 2021. Here’s a chance to land a powerful 00 from Stephen Strahm that’s dressed to the nines in understated tonewood glory. Gorgeous, dramatically figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides pair up with a special set of Adirondack Spruce on top that Stephen acquired from his days with the Santa Cruz Guitar Co, and he used that same set of BRW to furnish a lovely rosette and headstock veneer. Not much pearl on this one; Strahm’s aesthetic lets the quality of the woods speak for themselves. We’re very excited to have this one in the shop—give us a shout before it’s gone!

If you need a guitar that stand head and shoulders out from the crowd, this Ergo Noir from Charles Fox is going to be right up your alley. Charles’ Ergo design manages to make a large guitar feel and play like a much smaller instrument–without sacrificing an ounce of volume and tone. The voice on this Ergo Noir stands out to us here at Dream Guitars, and that takes a lot. There’s a quick and lively quality that’s immediately engrossing, with just a touch of added sweetness in the mids to warm it up and fill it out. The body is engineered with a wedge, elevated fingerboard, cutaway, and soundport to enhance the experience of effortless playability, and features an Alpine Spruce top (painted black) and wildly figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides plus red purflings throughout. A Flamed Mahogany neck terminating at Charles’ bespoke headstock shape, and an access panel at the tail, tie it all together. Ready for a modern addition to your collection? Looking for a flattop that not only plays great, but has a little something extra in the voice that’s unlike the others? This 2016 Charles Fox Ergo Noir is the ticket.

Rare is an understatement when it comes to this extraordinary Gibson Nick Lucas, crafted sometime between 1929 and 1933. Featuring Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, this guitar is a true gem from Gibson’s golden era.
Adding to its story, based on our research it appears to have been retopped by Gibson in the 1960s. This meticulous work not only explains the pristine condition of the finish but also gives insight into subtle details like the sunburst style on the top, the differences in binding between the top and back, and the laminated bridge plate—features that were not typical of Gibson’s 1930s build practices.
At its core, this is a prewar Nick Lucas Special—a rare and iconic model—with the coveted combination of Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, a 12-fret neck, and an ornate headstock inlay. To date, only a handful of Brazilian Rosewood Nick Lucas models with 12-fret necks have ever surfaced, making this one of the rarest examples of an already legendary instrument we’ve ever seen.
This Gibson Nick Lucas combines historical significance with undeniable beauty and tonal prowess. A collector’s centerpiece with a unique voice to match.Other keywords/misspellings:Luthier, lutherie, vintage, heirloom,

This guitar was built in a low-temperature, low-humidity environment, replicating the conditions of early 20th-century guitar workshops, in a manner similar to the renowned Blazer & Henkes. With its distinct character, this guitar is already a treasure, and we can’t wait to hear how its tone evolves in the years to come.

Just when you think you’ve seen and heard it all, along comes a guitar with the perfect combination of breathtaking visuals and a rapturous voice: our 2017 Al Petteway Crescendo from Bill Tippin. Dream’s own Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, paired with a Swiss Moonspruce top, Abalone trim to bind the top, rosette, fretboard, and center seam; flamed Koa arm bevel, rosette ring, and inlaid just below the nut at the first fret; French Polish on top, Nitrocellulose everywhere else; Bill’s signature soundport in the upper bout. This is a guitar that’s difficult to turn away from.
Tonally, the balance is equal parts bass, treble, and mids, with an overtone swell in the upper middle register to crank up the lushness and color. This is practically a brand new guitar, but it has the kind of cool, rolling bass notes and crisp trebles that you’d expect to find, instead, on a weather-worn and broken-in guitar from decades past. We shudder to think what this piece of beauty will sound like in the next few years. It’s a natural choice for open tunings like DADGAD, but the 25 1/2 inch scale and 14-fret neck also lets you drop down into C territory without compromising play feel.
It’s quality and style like this that make Bill Tippin one of our all-time favorite luthiers. This is a treasure you’ll want to keep close.

Such a treat to visit with this Parlor model from Michi Matsuda. Not only does Michi manage to build a visually arresting design, he also does so while maintaining utmost attention to the voice of the instrument as well. This is a petite Parlor that very much punches up above its weight. The trebles in particular have real strength to them that grabbed us right out the gate. Michi’s inventive flair manifests here with tightly figured Bubinga back and sides, Bearclaw Spruce top, an elevated fingerboard, and one of this two-tone bridges comprised of a Rosewood-Ebony laminate. All this culminates at the headstock rendered in a stair-step pattern that’s reminscent to our eye of a Stauffer style headstock with the tuners along the bass side. All told, this 2015 Parlor from Michi Matsuda is a captivating example of when the bleeding edge of modern lutherie works–one-of-a-kind, powerful, and clear.
