2011 Collings OM1A Deep Body, Honduran Mahogany/Adirondack Spruce
When an artist of the ilk of Julian Lage chooses a Collings OM as his main acoustic axe, this says a lot. This OM1A from 2011 says a lot, too. High-quality Honduran Mahogany and Adirondack spruce make up the DNA of this beastly instrument. It has a deep body as well, which no doubt contributes to the power of this OM. Flatpicking? Check. Fingerpicking? Extra check. Four-finger tapping? Somehow, yes—super check. Listen and look for yourself

R.E. Bruné makes guitars that are highly sought after. As a master of building and restoration, his wealth of knowledge and understanding of the instrument is proven in spades with the Concert Classical from 2019. Madagascar Rosewood for the back and sides, Cedar on top. This guitar is a powerhouse, with loads of headroom. The ultimate experience for the expressive and discerning guitarist. It has certainly been played but is well maintained.

We are pleased to present to you a brand new Model No.04 from Dion James. Not only is this instrument beautiful in sight and sound, but also in its construction, which is one of the more unique instruments we have seen in quite some time. Where to begin? Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, Sitka Spruce for the top (this Sitka was cut in the 1970s; it’s been well-seasoned). As for the back and sides, this guitar features an active hollow core back, similar to a double top, carbon fiber bridge plate, U brace, elevated fingerboard, and a cylindrically arched top and back. We could go on and on about what all makes this absolute beast of a guitar unique and powerful. From the custom-made Scheller tuners to the captured nut, and the subtle multiscale of 25.2-25.6”, this guitar is AMAZING. Look and listen for yourself

It’s no secret that we love Cocobolo here at Dream Guitars, and man, oh man, what an excellent example of that wood here in this 2015 Santa Cruz 000-12. Cocobolo back and sides, with Italian Spruce on top, short scale, and twelve frets to the body make it a perfect little fingerstyle guitar. With its hard V neck profile, there really isn’t much more a traditional guitar enthusiast could ask for. Whether you’re looking to expand your collection with some seriously amazing quality Cocobolo or you need a couch guitar, you may have stumbled upon what you’re looking for.

Kevin Ryan’s Abbey model takes the usual Parlor proportions and fills them out just enough to make it a Grand Parlor instead—domed back, 14 inches across the lower bout, and a 25 inch scale come together for warmth and power in equal measure. Add to that a gorgeous set of Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, and a Sitka Spruce top, and the result is an even richer, enveloping little guitar. Fingerstyle is the name of the game; the setup is silky smooth for effortless playing. Kevin’s slim neck profile fits comfortably in the hand, and it’s easy to lose track of time playing this one. This beauty from 2003 has been very well maintained—hardly a mark on it—and comes wrapped in a Calton flight case for maximum safety.

This Klein M43 from 1997 offers a subtle glimpse into what Klein & Kauffman guitars are renowned for today. This variation features an offset soundhole, which creates an even more unique sonic soundscape with this instrument. Wielding it feels powerful; hearing it is moving, and looking at it encompasses both of those experiences. The Maple back and sides exhibit extreme chatoyance, reminiscent of looking into the bottom of a swimming pool in summer. The spruce top has aged just as finely in sound as it has in hue. But enough of us gushing over this—listen to the sample and watch the video for yourself. Brace yourself.

A very sonorous and sweet 12-fret OM from Noemi—we love her work. This guitar features a combination of tonewoods that isn’t so common: Bubinga and cedar. This instrument is lively and full. Being an OM, it’s perfectly comfortable, but with the voice of an instrument you would assume to be significantly larger. Listen and look for yourself. This is an incredible experience for a guitarist of any caliber and from any walk of life.
