Description

From the late, great Lance McCollum, we’ve got a sweet 2002 Prototype Slope D in The Tree Mahogany and Adirondack Spruce. Lightweight and agile, this McCollum has a very quick response and deliciously crisp trebles. The Tree is such fantastically figured tonewood, it’s always a special treat to see it used on such a lively and exciting guitar, and it pairs nicely here with Adirondack Spruce on top for extra power and drive. Under the hood there’s a K&K Pure Mini pickup (one of our all-time favorites), and this McCollum comes wrapped up in a TKL case for those rare moments when you won’t have it in hand.

I have known this guitar for a number of years, and it continues to mature and develop a voice that is as beautiful as The Tree Mahogany that Lance McCollum used to create it. Lance was a personal friend and we worked together for years, and this guitar is a wonderful legacy to the man. He was ultra passionate, a great player, and loved by everyone in the community. This is a guitar to treasure.

I like the slope D body style. It is perfect for strumming or fingerpicking and the tone is full, but balanced, with sparkling highs. There are very few of these out there. Lance McCollum was a great guitar builder and died way too young, so owning one of his guitars is like guarding a legacy.
