Here at Dream Guitars we hold Ervin Somogyi, the grandfather of modern fingerstyle lutherie, in the highest esteem. How could we not? His designs and techniques have helped pave the way for an entirely new style of responsive guitar. So it comes as a special honor to have this 2016 000 Cutaway in our hands today. This is the first of a trio of bespoke builds Ervin crafted for a client, each featuring a unique patio stone headplate with Rodgers tuners, carved rosette, and sail boat inlaid at the heel. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides pairs with Sitka Spruce on top, plus a 26-25" multiscale setup and 12 fret neck. The carved rosette is an incredibly intricate series of knots backed with red washi paper.

Here's a stunning Somogyi guitar that is one of the three ordered as consecutive serial numbers, and this particular guitar is modeled after one that Ervin made myself, #404. To me this has a wonderful and versatile set of specifications, including multiscale and a cutaway on a 12-fret 000 body. I originally requested this arrangement to get the maximum energy and tone and beauty out of the box. This one has all of that and it's so beautiful! 
Individual notes are so crisp, it feels surgically precise. I love the immediacy and definition; responds perfectly to tap style play. That said, this work of art makes pretty much everything sound good. - Accessories
