If Michael Greenfield has ever built a dud, we haven't seen it. Quite the opposite, in fact. We haven't seen a Greenfield that didn't knock us out right out the gate. Take this 2018 G1 as a great example. Effortless playability, a voice with sweetness and riches and a slight midrange bump that makes for an engrossing, complete sound--the best tonewoods you're like to find on a modern build--ergonomic features to maximize player comfort. This G1 does it all. The back and sides are Mike's reserve grade, 80-year-old Cocobolo, here paired with an Adirondack Spruce top, Honduran Mahogany neck, and a Laskin-inspired arm bevel. Additional appointments include a heel "swoosh" carve, florentine cutaway, clear pickguard, and custom splatter-style Calton flight case.

Michael Greenfield is straight up one of my favorite builders. Because tone! Just listen to this one, and the many other Greenfields we have recorded over the years. Trust your ears, these simply have it all.
Excellent note separation and individual definition. The midrange has heaps of meat, rich and articulate. This G1 is exceedingly easy to play, and boy did I lose track of time pretty much immediately.
