Robert Ruck is one of the most revered contemporary builders in the Classical Guitar world–from the first pass of the plane to the final buffing of the finish, Ruck’s attention to detail yields a powerful, resonant creature. Built in 1997, this Concert guitar has gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, and an umber Cedar top that ramps up the warmth and balance.
The trebles have that faint shimmering quality that good Classicals have, and are filled out by a panoply of delicate overtones which inform the rest of the voice with an extra pinch of color. The bass is controlled, well-defined, and balances nicely with the warm middle register. In pretty stellar shape, this Ruck moreover comes with a Calton flight case to insure it remains gorgeous and pristine.
