This is what it’s all about. We are so excited to have this prewar powerhouse in the shop! Martin 000-18 #31424 was built in 1927, featuring a long scale fretboard on 12-fret neck, slotted headstock, and of course Adirondack-over-Mahogany body. The original finish had deteriorated, so the guitar has been refinished with French Polish for maximum resonance, and as such has only a few minor marks—marvelous for a guitar of this age. The voice is exquisite. Open and lush, with a balanced projection that showcases individual notes as well as big chords. The bar frets have been recently dressed to play as smooth as possible, and we love the added width of the 1 7/8” nut for easy lefthand work. Our repair folks also reset the neck, so this 1927 000-18 is set up for another generation of music!
