Clear and clean, with Brazilian Rosewood back and Sitka Spruce top, our 1990 Martin D-40 BLE is the flatpicking machine of choice. Designed in collaboration with Martin and Mike Longworth, the D-40 BLE features white bindings, Abalone trim, the C.F. Martin headstock logo (also in Abalone), and snowflakes on the bridge wings and fretboard. These guitars were a limited run of 50 guitars (you’re looking at number 39 now), and we’ve got the original Mark Leaf flight case that it shipped out in from the Martin factory to boot. In 2016 Martin retopped this beauty and gave it a clean bill of health, so our D-40 BLE is more than ready to get back in the saddle.

It’s wonderful to see this limited edition Martin from 29 years ago. These early special instruments from Nazareth are coveted for their tonewoods and voice. This one is big and strong and bold.
