2002 must have been a particularly good year for Kevin Ryan, because this Mission Grand Concert is nothing short of incredible. Brazilian Rosewood body with Bosnian Spruce top, Abalone appointments, and the glassy setups and play feel that Kevin is so well known for–plus this beauty has the added benefit of having been Laurence Juber’s personal Ryan. Needless to say, the mojo is there. Great note separation across the registers, and an extra meaty midrange really makes for a lively and fun playing experience. Great headroom on those glassy trebles, very tasty indeed.

A number of my favorite guitars from Kevin Ryan have had his Bosnian spruce tops. I'm not sure what it is but they just have a little extra something special. This one is paired with Brazilian rosewood and on his Mission Grand body size, my personal favorite, offering up a guitar that is balanced and a pleasure to play.
Oh man, the mids on this one! I love how rich and full they are, and as such how well they span the space between bass and treble for a voluminous, expansive voice.
