Marc Maingard‘s instruments are long standing favorites here at the Dream Guitars shop due to their breathtaking looks and tone. Marc’s native environs of Scarborough, South Africa clearly influenced his work as here where the stunning landscape manifests in this lovely Grand Concert model. Built from rosy-cheeked European Spruce and a colorful and vibrant set of Brazilian Rosewood, this guitar has excellent focus from string to string, with a shimmer that adds a wonderful complexity to the sound. Marc has been a performer for many years and knows precisely how a guitar should play and feel; This GC is one of the easiest playing instruments we have ever had in the shop, no matter where you play up or down the fingerboard. And with the sleek arm bevel and rib rest, this is a guitar that anyone can feel comfortable playing, even those with shoulder issues. This is an incredible guitar from a master craftsman and it deserves a place in your home!

The wonderful builder Marc Maingard has recently retired, but not until he had a long career. We have many of his wonderful instruments to enjoy for years to come. Amongst his great accomplishments were training Matthew and Matthias of Casimi guitars, so his legacy continues in their work as well. 
The recently retired Marc Maingard has built some of my all-time favorite guitars, like this livewire Grand Concert model from 2009 with Brazilian Rosewood and European Spruce. The BRW is extra light in coloration, with lots of dramatic ink lines to really set it off, and on top Marc added a sparkling Abalone rosette to a red purfled trim package for a smart, exciting aesthetic. Twin arm and rib bevels come together for creature comfort when in the driver’s seat, and a light build weight of just over four pounds keeps this Maingard in your hands for even longer. Tonally, this one has quite the string energy, and great dynamism across the registers. The bass pops, the trebles soar, this Maingard is a skies-the-limit kind of flattop.
