Smoothness, a clear fundamental, and balance across the registers are the defining traits of this 2010 Sexauer FT-14. The bass register’s warmth and presence pairs up perfectly with the precision and definition of the trebles, in a way that gives the voice a chocolatey richness that also exhibits great note separation. This is sometimes referred to as the piano effect, and it especially comes out with big, lush chords here. It’s a fabulous fingerstyle instrument. And at 14 1/2” across the lower bout and 3.5lbs, this FT-14 is also an incredibly comfortable guitar. The setup is correspondingly slinky smooth to boot. We enjoyed taking this one down to DADGAD, as much as we enjoyed it C9, Standard, and beyond. Bruce has a way of building guitars that offer a wide tonal palette for different applications, and we’re moore than excited that this Sexauer is no exception. On the tonewoods front, the back and sides are Brazilian Rosewood, with Italian Spruce on top and Maple purflings. Additionally, the bridge, fingerboard, and headstock veneer are also Brazilian Rosewood for added elegance.
This 2010 Sexauer FT-14 is damn near perfect, in our opinion.
