Kim’s work has always stopped me in my tracks, and this one’s no exception. The voice is sublime, but what really got me this time is the neck—there’s something unique going on here. It fills the hand in a way that’s hard to describe—almost a V, almost a C, but neither exactly. It’s full and supportive, yet somehow effortless. I found myself lost in it right away. That’s the magic of Kim’s work: every detail feels intentional, every curve just right. Truly one of the greats.
I could go into the rarity of this being both a Master Model and a 45-style, it's cachet and collectability--all of which are important. However, I'm going to focus purely on the voice of the guitar, of the experience I had while playing it. This Walker is one of those rare birds that viscerally wakes up after about ten minutes. What starts out as an excellent instrument becomes something altogether different once it warms up. At that point, and I don't know how else to put it, the guitar feels alive in my hands. It's like you open a door into a dark room, and you can tell it's filled with some ineffable depths that you won't find anywhere else. It's a room I'd be happy to step into, close the door, leave a Do Not Disturb on the handle.
