We’re huge fans of Preston Thompson Guitars over here, ditto for Jake Workman of Skaggs’ Kentucky Thunder fame, so when those two came together you know the result is going to be special. In 2017 Jake spec’d this model out with Thompson’s Shipwreck stash of Brazilian Rosewood (basically unavailable today) and some tight-grained Adirondack Spruce on top, then combined that with a hybrid of 21 and 18-style appointments. K&K Trinity dual source pickup system and EVO frets are the icing on the cake. Moreso, the PKT team built this beau with a slender play weight which makes the guitar feel extra alive and singing in your hands. Add to that a fast neck and great setup, and this PKT DBA-JW is one of those rare guitars that can immediately take you out of yourself to get lost in the music.

Preston Thompson guitars are highly regarded by the Bluegrass community and dreadnought lovers everywhere. All of that love is for a good reason, they are powerful and clear and super musical. What I love about this Jake Workman model is the sheer power under the hood. It's got lots of headroom if I push on the strings, and still has great projection with a lighter attack too. 
Smoothly balanced from bass to trebles, such that the voice comes out as a sweet, complete package. I love it when you get each string dialed in so neatly with each other. The neck is slightly slender for deft lefthand work, and the build is so light overall that I feel this one in my ribs. | Scale Length | 25.4 in |
