Here we have a beautifully kept 2002 Collings 00-3E. The ‘3’ indicates the highest level of appointments including a bound neck and headstock, abalone rosette, upgraded slothead tuners with Ivoroid buttons and more. The ‘E’ here is a reference to the amazing Engelmann top on this guitar. It is a perfect top, full of medullary rays with equate to tone and energy. This is what Master Grade looks like. It is also easy to hear the quality of this top. This guitar is loud and deceptively full sounding for a 00. The bass response is closer to what you’d expect from a 000 or even an OM. This is a superb Collings, a cut above in our book.
This is an exceptional 00 and an exceptional Collings. We sell a lot of Collings Guitars, just look at our previously sold page, and this one stands out. I'm sure it's the wonderful Engelmann top. It makes this a loud and rich sounding small body Collings. The treble strings are fuller than most and the bass is round and warm. I love it!
